“It was the experience of a lifetime, dude.”
The above quote was from Guilford boy’s hockey player Brian Donahue after his team squared off against St. Bernard/NFA/Bacon Academy at the 1st ever Whale Fest at Rentschler Field.
The past week has seen a slew of games played by local hockey teams at the East Hartford venue, which has been temporarily retrofitted with an ice rink. Among the high school games played, several great match-ups were played – some with surprising results:
Date | Team1 | Score | Team2 | Recap/Box Score |
2/10 | Simsbury (Girls) | 1-2 | Hall/Conard (Girls) | Hartford Courant |
2/14 | St. Joseph | 4-2 | Amity | Post-Chronicle |
2/14 | Sheehan | 1-5 | Lyman Hall | Record Journal |
2/16 | St. Bernard/NFA/Bacon Academy | 4-3 | Guilford | The Day, Norwich Bulletin |
2/18 | Northwest Catholic | 2-0 | Enfield | West Hartford Patch |
2/18 | Wethersfield | 2-5 | East Catholic | Hartford Courant |
2/19 | Newington/ Berlin | 1-2 | Farmington | Hartford Courant |
By all indications, it was a good show for all parties involved. Not only that, but these are the types of events that, win or lose, create positive memories for everyone. And that’s what it’s all about.
Well done. Let’s do it again real soon.
